From policing to empowering users in labs
KU Leuven, 00.113 Ruth Benedictzaal, Fac. Soc. Wetenschappen, Parkstraat 45, 3000 Leuven - Fri Nov 18, 8am - 10:30 am
You want a vibrant research environment
but find it hard to balance that with safe and responsible usage?
At our free event for lab managers and directors, you will get practical pointers on how to foster ownership and safety in a positive way.
How to create
a Just Culture
Rudy Pont believes punishing people for honest mistakes is not the answer. As both an aviation accident investigator and ambassador for Just Culture, he advocates creating ownership and safety in a positive way. He will offer you a new view on safety management and provide practical pointers on how to foster a culture of mutual trust and open reporting at your lab.

Transform
to a digital lab
Next, our co-founder David Truyens will share key learnings on lab management he acquired in the past four years of assisting labs in their digital transformation.
Panel discussion
How do other lab managers foster an environment where people take ownership? What challenges do they face? What is their vision on the future? Find out during our panel discussion with a lab manager, PI, supplier and lab director. You are more than welcome to ask questions.

Meet your speakers

David Truyens
David is the co-founder of Toolsquare. As a former solution architect in improving workflows, David felt something was missing in shared workplaces. Expensive machines were sitting idle while so many people wanted to use them. Enter Toolsquare, a solution digitising user access, enabling safe sharing of machines. In the past four years of implementing and continuously improving our system in labs in Belgium, Norway and the Netherlands, David has learned a lot about the digital transformation of labs.
To make innovation and craftmanship accessible to all
We envision a higher level of cooperation, sharing and ownership among makers and researchers. Our goal is to render workshops and laboratories self managing. To this end, we created hardware units and a software platform controlling user access and enabling safe sharing of machines.
